SMART services several regional transportation centers, including in downtown Detroit and Royal Oak. SMART and DDOT buses both use the Jason Hargrove Transit Center by the old state fairgrounds. Directly off of 8 Mile, this transit center allows for seamless and sheltered transfers between the City of Detroit and suburban routes. Transfers between SMART and DDOT buses are free.
SMART operates the Royal Oak Transit Center and connects to major educational institutes and regional train stations. FAST routes stop in downtown Detroit near numerous transportation options.
Accessibility Features
SMART offers a safe and comfortable experience to all riders. Every fixed-route bus in the fleet is equipped with a wheelchair ramp, and all connector buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts.
For those unable to ride SMART’s fixed-route bus service because of a disability, SMART provides paratransit services that require advanced reservation. This is a curb-to-curb service.
