About the Citizens Advisory Committee

The Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) serves at the pleasure of the RTA Board of Directors and is established by the RTA’s enabling legislation. The CAC is asked to advise the RTA on transit issues related to members’ communities, make suggestions for improvements in transit service, and advocate for greater funding for public transportation.

The committee is comprised of people from each county who represent important segments of the transit-user population. The composition and purpose of the CAC is written in the RTA’s enabling law, PA 387 of 2012.

Interested in joining?

The CAC meets bimonthly on the second Monday of the month. Regular attendance is expected. Members have the opportunity to volunteer for subcommittees and advisory roles as liaisons to major RTA planning projects. Beyond general membership meetings, CAC members are expected to contribute at least five additional hours every month in public engagement and education activities.
